This novel by Kate Morton – a story of tragedy, secrets, and discovery, has been described as a cross between The Secret Carden & Rebecca, and is being offered for £2.99 when you buy this weeks Times newspaper.

It starts on the eve of the First World War, when a little girl named Nell is found wondering alone on a ship bound for Australia. Fast forward to the night of her twenty-first birthday, and Nell learns a family secret that will change her life forever. Do something Gromiiiit

If like me you are a huge Wallace and Gromit fan, you will be pleased to know that there is a brand new Adventure entitled “A Matter Of Loaf And Death” to be shown at Christmas :D

The half-hour special has got a distinctly Hitchcockian air as the pair fight to save their new bakery Top Bun, where Business was flourishing, until a sinister killer started targeting all the bakers in town, and Wallace fears that Top Bun may be next.

Matters are complicated when he falls in love with Piella Bakewell (voiced by Sally Lindsay) leaving the long-suffering Gromit to run the shop, when he would rather be getting to know Piella’s cute poodle Fluffles. However Fluffles may not be all that she seems…

Quantum of Solace

Over the weekend I went to see The latest Bond Movie “Quantum of Solace”. It has a lot of explosions & action which makes it very exciting in places. Like Casino Royale it is more gritty & realistic than some recent Bond movies (Which in my opinion is no bad thing).

It picks up shortly after Casino Royale finishes and sees Daniel Craig trying to discover who the baddies behind Le Chifre’s dodgy dealings really are. His investigations lead him to The West Indies where he discovers the Corrupt Bolivian General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio) working with a chap named Greene (Matthieu Amalric), who is buying up vast quantities of land under the pretext of setting up vast Wildlife parks, but is in fact trying to get to the valuable mineral, oil and Water reserves underneath…

Helping/hindering him along the way are Agent Strawberry Fields (Gemma Arterton) and a former lover of Greene’s named Camille (Olga Kurylenko).

The Theme tune by Jack While & Alicia Keys “Another Way to Die” is also growing on me. Although I still don’t think it is as good as Chris Cornell’s “You Know My Name

Interestingly The film takes it’s name from the third short story featured In Ian Fleming’s novel For Your Eyes Only and is actually an anecdote told to James Bond at a Dinner Party and doesn’t even feature Bond at all.

Here is the TRAILER
