This was another fantastic Robert Goddard novel I managed to read whilst I was in Hospital. It’s a taut thriller in which the youngest child of three kids is kidnapped by a stocky chap driving a white Transit from just outside the Red Lion pub in Avebury during a hot summer’s day. This prompts an investigation & a game of “cat & Mouse” ensues as the goodies try to catch the kidnappers & return the child to the anxious mother.

This is another great novel I read whilst I was in hospital (Yeah, I did a lot of reading lol). It concerns a reclusive writer named Beryl Maddison, who starts getting some unwelcome attention from a stalker, who spies on her and makes threatening phone-calls. Understandably frightened Beryl flees to Key West in Florida. Then once the attention has all died down she returns home and unwittingly invites her killer in….

Dr Kay Scarpetta is a Pathologist who is given the job of investigating what actually happened to Beryl that fateful night – Could these events be somehow connected to Beryl’s enigmatic relationship with a prize-winning author and the mysterious disappearance of one of her own manuscripts. Dr Scarpetta’s investigations soon lead her into all sorts of dodgy dealings.

This is another great novel I read whilst in hospital. It concerns a retired archeologist named Michael Paleogus who is a decendant of the last Byzantine Emperor. He lives alone in a remote mansion in Cornwall. His son Nicholas is then requestesd to resolve a family dispute which threatens to undermine thee relationship between his siblings.

Meanwhile a suspiciously generous offer is made for the mansion even though it is not for sale, Naturally Michael refuses to sell up, it is only after this stalemate is tragically broken that Michael’s son Nicholas discovers why his Father refused to sell the mansion. In the meantime someone is determined to dig up a terrible secret from Michael’s past, so Nicholas decides to do a bit of investigating and track down this person and discover why someone would want the mansion badly enough to offer way over the asking price even if it means excavating terrible secrets in the process.
